Frequently Asked Question

What is my computer's password?
Last Updated 8 years ago

All computers purchased or restored by Altispeed come with a pre-configured password. If you didn’t change the default password when you setup your computer then your password is:

changem3

This password is not intended to secure your computer. While it is marginally better than having no password at all the fact that you have accessed this FAQ section and successfully recovered your password should be enough to convince you that you need a new password.

Here’s an idea to help you choose a secure password that’s easy to remember

Try taking a sentence and turning it into a password. Take for example

“I’ve got a lovely bunch of coconuts. There they are all standing in a row” might be IgalB0CTtRas1aR”

This password will be very difficult for computers to break but very easy for you to remember.

If you changed your password when you setup your computer, it’s very important that you find where you wrote down or stored your password. If you can not remember your new password Altispeed does offer a password reset service for a one time fee of $75.00.

For step my step instructions on changing your password on Ubuntu please see our knowledgebase article
